Dance Awareness, Dance Education and Dance Seminar Programme
These classes and dance activities are run free of charge by the JOMBA! festival. We would like to thank all the JOMBA! 2002 participants (dancers and choreographers) for giving so generously of their time and expertise to make this programme possible. Part of our intention, with JOMBA!, is to make sure that the dance expertise gathered in Durban over the ten days of the festival, is shared as widely as possible to feed into the development of dance and performance in this town. Please note that if you wish to attend one of the following workshops, booking is essential. Contact 260 1142 to book a place.

Outside the invited dance companies, the CCA is pleased to offer (for the second year) a performance platform for local dancers and choreographers to present their work within this professional dance platform. The JOMBA! FRINGE provides a platform for KZN choreographers to submit work for the festival. The key criteria for selection is that the work engages with contemporary and/or fusion idioms that promote the development of contemporary dance in South Africa. A selection committee evaluated the submissions and the following choreographers/groups have been chosen to present work:
~ Quinton Ribbonaar (Durban)
~ Wesley Maherry (UND)
~ Lenin Shabalala (UND)
~ Mdu Mtshali (Cato Manor Vibe and SHWIBEKA DANCE COMPANY)
~ JUVENILE (Wentworth)
~ Khulani Ngabase (Umlazi)
